New Torchwood Series. I'm feeling decidedly MEH at the news. I'll watch it if they kill Gwen off!
Oh pulease!
Jul. 14th, 2009 06:52 pmI think I may vomit. Charitable donations as a Thank you to James Moran.
Some brown-nosing fan has set up a way of giving to Children in Need and Cancer UK in the name of our poor, dear, persecuted hero.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for giving to charities and supported both of these in the past. But this? Pass me the sick bucket.
What's next? Tales of miracle-working and a push for sainthood?

Upset fans = upset writer
Jul. 12th, 2009 09:31 pmPoor James Moran, one of the writers of Torchwood CoE, being on Twitter and with a blog, has been accessible to the fury of the fans. And there has been fury and ranting and personal comments. This is his reaction to it all. He's pulling back and stopping that kind of connection with the fans. Probably a wise choice. But if he thinks that people wouldn't say those kind of things to his face? He hasn't been around fandom very much has he? I've been at cons where guests have been accused of poisoning other guests and where one writer was told that his idea for movie of the show was complete crap and anvilicious.
I feel a lot of sympathy for him, but I think it's naive not to realise there was going to be a huge reaction to what they did with the series. He says his only duty is to the story. Well that's fine and absolutely true and correct and I salute him for it. And I will also think long and hard before watching any new series of Torchwood and anything else he writes. Because I don't want to spend my leisure time in the kind of world he created here.
