Dear Pope

Dear Pope

Thank you for advocating homophobia and bigotry in the UK. If the Reformation wasn't enough for you, I think Lily Allen and the people of Manchester have something to say to you.

Looks fascinating. I especially love the Steam Darth Vader helmet and the Eye Pod.

WTF

Oct. 9th, 2009 12:02 pm
Obama is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

WTF? He's barely started doing anything to get this, let alone have any results. I'm a fan of his, but this is way too much too soon.

Apparently it's because the committee: "...would like to support what he is trying to achieve". Well great! Send money to one of his campaigns. Give him a gold star and a Blue Peter Badge (but not a gold one) but not the Nobel Peace Prize. Come on! Wait until he actually does walk on water before that!
I am a brain donor.

No - seriously.

Brain Donor

My Mum has Parkinson's Disease (among other things) and they need brains to study.

Please consider registering. Brains aren't in the normal organ donor register and if you're happy with your kidneys going to someone please think about the use your brain could be to research.

And it's braaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiinsssssss!!! What's not for a fangirl to like?
Kids rebelling at school by tying odd knots in the school tie

I can remember the fashion at school for the lads (who were the only ones who *had* to wear a tie) was the 'superfat' with as much collar misarrangement as possible. There was one guy in my class who basically got his tie down to being all knot.

And what's the worry? Kids are going to rebel anyway - and rebelling over ties seems pretty harmless to me - let them have a safe outlet for rebellion and it'll stop them setting fire to each other - hopefully.
I've always wanted to bring about the downfall of civilisation. And it turns out that all my working life I've been doing it! I've spent my time working in or around an Evil and Orwellian NHS system! The NHS!

*sniffs*
I'm so proud. I'm filling up here.
*sniffs*

Can I apply to The Evil Overlords Club now?

And so I have to say goodbye to the creator of another childhood icon Pugwash creator Ryan dies aged 88. I loved Captain Pugwash! But I can't help but be amused at the caption to the picture is "Pugwash's crewmates on the Black Pig included Tom the Cabin Boy". You hear that? TOM the Cabin Boy. That's TOM, TOM NOT Roger - repeat NOT Roger the Cabin Boy! Oh and there were no one called Seaman Staines, either!

ZOMG

If I ever start moaning about the NHS can someone please remind me of this video.

And this one.
There's a new research tool out that's allegedly going to be more important than google. I don't know anything about that, but I'm getting fangirl worries that it's called Wolfram Alpha

It's like launching a new satellite system and calling it Skynet.
Went grocery shopping tonight. Buying eggs, I opened the carton to check they were unbroken. My eye was caught by the allergy advice: Contains egg.

No shit, Sherlock!

At least it didn't say May Contain Eggs.
Working through my list of 'Books I haven't read but really should' I bought Ulysses by James Joyce from Amazon. It's just arrived. I didn't expect it to be that big. 768 pages? WTF? I do not hold out much hope for me finishing it.

Lies

Feb. 8th, 2009 11:06 am
There are lies, damned lies and statistics and then there's the figures MMR doctor Andrew Wakefield based his MMR/autism link on.

This makes me so fucking angry. Misintepreting data? An honest mistake? These things happen. But making it up? Knowing it was false and going on anyway? This guy really, really needs to be struck off.
I went out at lunchtime to the Mersey at the bottom of my street. It was snowing heavily.

I always knew I was a heretic. Now I know what kind!

You scored as Monarchianism. You are a Monarchian. You seek to retain monotheistic belief but in doing so abandon the idea of a triune God. God exists as the Father only, though he can reveal himself in other ways in a manner similar to modalism. Jesus is a man who is adopted into the Godhead and given divine status. Jehovah's Witnesses still hold to this belief.
